… could stop me from sneaking in some outdoor wedding portraits on Saturday! This major weather event on the Labor Day long weekend didn’t turn out to be what it could have. But we did get A LOT of rain. It did not, however, ruin the day for Cheryl and Joel. They did everything right to make sure their special day was perfect. They booked a year in advance, kept in contact, were clear of their wants regarding wedding photographs and they had a back up plan in case of rain!

The inside photos were set against a beautiful backdrop and I loved it. But the second there was a break in the rain we went outside to capture at least a few before the rain started again. Enjoy!!

I recently discovered a great site to create your own Wedding Website for FREE! This is a fantastic way to keep wedding guests informed of all the details of your very special day. It’s easy to use and a lot more professional looking than using a facebook group. Thought I’d share…

With the 2010 wedding season nearly upon us, the majority of wedding photography inquiries are for 2011. I had one bride comment that there aren’t many wedding photographs posted on my website. She’s right! Last season my wedding portfolio could be found on another site (now changed to this one hosted on my own domain) and a wedding blog site. Since the summer I have created this site to showcase all of my photography work. However, waiting for this summer’s weddings to expand my portfolio may not be the best choice given the amount of interest for 2011. So here are just a few of the weddings from last spring and summer. Stay tuned for more to follow.

As I looked through my work I realized that orange was the color of the season!!! I wonder what this year’s color will be?

The final mini-engagement session from my booth at The Wedding Show in the fall has been in the works and scheduled for some time. As luck would have it, the natural lighting conditions were perfect for most areas in our trek around Killarney Lodge on Fredericton’s north side. This happy, joking couple dressed perfectly for the early spring vegetation (if not for the coolness of the day!). But they were good sports about my portrait taking philosophy: it’s more important to be beautiful than comfortable – which is true to a certain extent. Two minutes after the session ended the skies opened and the remainder of the afternoon was filled with rain, snow, hail and sunshine. Now how fortunate was that?

May the good luck of this day follow Tracy and Jason throughout their married lives.

There was only one thing that was not difficult about this Saturday morning engagement session near the walking bridge on the Fredericton north side – the couple! Katlyn and Chris were awesome. They were full of smiles and easy to talk to. Unfortunately it was very windy which did terrible things to long hair. And although it was 2 degrees in the sun, it felt more like minus 20 in the wind. Heavy dark clouds rolled quickly through the February skies making it extremely challenging to keep up with the fast changing lighting conditions. I certainly needed to be on my toes! With some patience, a little luck, and some skill, we managed to capture some really great shots.

Is there a better gift for Valentines’ Day than saying “I Do”? I can’t imagine that promising to love one another forever in a church, in front of God, family and friends can be outdone. The Valentines’ eve ceremony between Emma and Gary was lovely! A beautiful candlelight ceremony with only the very closest of family and friends, followed by an equally intimate dinner, are memories that will be relived for a lifetime. I am happy they chose me to capture their wedding portraits. I hope you enjoy them forever as well.

A breath of fresh air in the form of a warm winter day in the middle of our recent deep freeze here in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and a easy-going couple with warming smiles! Jessica and Richard were wonderful sports about the cold weather. And despite the chill the day was absolutely perfect for picture taking downtown near the walking bridge. Here are a few of the engagement photos taken that day. Enjoy!

It’s been a great year! Many of the goals set for 2009 were achieved or broken. I spent the year working with my fabulous new Nikon D90! And added the SB900 to my bag in the spring.I have the SB800 as well. My Photoshop skills greatly improved and many marketing opportunities opened up. My biggest hope was to have a blog hosted on my own domain and in November it finally came to be. You may wonder why it is important to my business but go ahead… search fredericton wedding photography or photographer and you will find me hovering at page 1 or 2 on google!! This was a move from the 7th page at best. (When was the last time you kept looking through 7 pages for what you wanted?)

There is still much to be done. GalleryArseneau.ca still needs some tweaking. Marketing is an ongoing battle and skills can always be improved. For 2010 I will work on my branding which basically means having a logo, watermark, website, business cards, and packaging that are uniform and reflect your style. It’s what makes you recognizable and helps you stand out in the crowd. Keep coming back to see how it progresses. For now have a look at a few of the engagement session photos from 2009 and stay tuned for other last year photos to come online. Don’t forget to look for the latest news with portraits and personal stuff!
