my spaces

I’ve seen this section or one similar to it on a few sites so I’m going to borrow from it to help you get to know me better …

1. What is your birthday and astrological sign? What does it say about you?

I was born on October 15th which makes me a libra. This is the only inanimate sign so I’m guessing that makes me unique. The goal for Libra is to witness the importance of co-operation and harmony in human life. Libra is represented by a pair of scales. This says something about the Libra objective – to be fair and balanced in everything in a detached way – it is an air sign and therefore seeks an ideal. At its best, Libra can view complex situations, maybe emotionally highly charged ones, and come to a balanced view based on a fair consideration of all the options. However, it may take a while to come off the fence! Come down in favour of one side of the scales and the other side goes up and Libra always seeks to restore balance. This pretty much describes my personality. The traits, likes and dislikes of my sign are me to a tee! (I know my family and friends are nodding in agreement.)

2. Where were you born? Do you still have ties?

A rural area in Cape Breton named Bras D’Or (arm of gold in french) is the place I still call home. My boys call it home even though they’ve never even lived in Nova Scotia. We visit once or twice a year now that school interferes and stay somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks. I’d love to book summer weddings in Cape Breton and spend most of the summer there.

3. Cats? Or dogs?

I have both… one dog and two cats. I used to consider myself a dog person until recently. I think I may actually like cats better now.

4. Who do you admire?

That’s a tough one! I admire many people and most of them are normal, everyday people. I never understood the fascination with and admiration of “stars”. I remember as a young girl wondering why my friends loved Shawn Cassidy or the Bay City Rollers. Hard to relate to people we don’t know I think. I most admired my maternal grandparents for reasons too numerous to list.

5. Summer or winter?

That’s easy! Both!! All four seasons are my favorite. I like my summers HOT and my winters snowy and everything in between. If I had to give up a season it would be the one I affectionately refer to as “mud”.

6. What are the things you like to do in your spare time?

Again these are too numerous to mention. But I do love to learn new things, I absolutely love to read, I like to knit, I love to swim (especially in the salt water), I’d play softball forever if I could and I like to ski a lot, and skate some. I think suntanning should be a national past time as there’s nothing more relaxing than the feel of sun on skin. I’m a good cook which is good since I do it lots. I enjoy TV and bubble baths. I spend a lot of “spare time” sitting on the sidelines while the boys play sports and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

7. If I could be any animal what animal would I be and why?

I have been asked this question and similar questions in interviews and group workshops and my answer is always the same. “What kind of a question is that!” I am not nor will I ever be an animal. There’s no sense wasting brain power on pretending. Although I once admired the woman who answered ” a butterfly so I could flutter away from my problems.”
