… could stop me from sneaking in some outdoor wedding portraits on Saturday! This major weather event on the Labor Day long weekend didn’t turn out to be what it could have. But we did get A LOT of rain. It did not, however, ruin the day for Cheryl and Joel. They did everything right to make sure their special day was perfect. They booked a year in advance, kept in contact, were clear of their wants regarding wedding photographs and they had a back up plan in case of rain!

The inside photos were set against a beautiful backdrop and I loved it. But the second there was a break in the rain we went outside to capture at least a few before the rain started again. Enjoy!!

We always put things off to a later date and most times we get to them. But for some reason people (including myself) put off having family photographs taken and end up wishing they hadn’t! This is not the case for the Wilkins clan. Sara knew that when her daughter Joanne came home this summer she wanted to have pictures of her family. Daughters Wanda, Barb and Geraldine joined in of course and brought their significant other … whether they liked it or not… along for the fun. It was a great evening spent with great people. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

As late summer approaches in the portrait world it is time for two things… to book that family photo you have been wanting, and to think about giving the personal gift of a professional sitting for Christmas. Stephanie, Scott, Shyla and baby to come were given a gift certificate for Christmas in 2009 by their friends (and former wedding clients) Ashley and Greg. They picked the perfect weather day to redeem it! Shyla cooperated like a pro and these photos show the wonderful results of her efforts. Have a peek at other photos of the Mitchell family on facebook.

Miranda’s recent visit from Newfoundland to spend time with her dad, stepmom, and new baby brother Reed looks like it has been a very happy one for all concerned. This smiley little firecracker is an excellent big sister and an even better photographer’s model! If all my family members could hold a pose and a smile as well as she can, allowing me to concentrate on having an infant look at the camera, life would be easy. It was a pleasure to travel to Oromocto to capture this wonderful moment for the White family.

Friday I had the pleasure of a double session with girls! First came little Brooklyn. This pretty little blonde was quiet for a 2 year old and didn’t smile easily but she sure did take lovely photographs! She was indeed a sweet little thing.Next up were Brooklyn’s cousins, precious Sophie and Marlie. You’ve met them several times before here on my site and on facebook. Poor Anita got quite the workout trying to keep Marlie sitting, Sophie co-operating and both of them smiling. All three beauties did a great job! (And you too Anita ;o)

While it may seem things have been slow in my world based on the lack of photos posted, nothing could be farther from the truth! I have been extremely busy and would like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful, patient clients and friends for their care and support the past month or more. I am blessed!

Here are a few portraits that have been waiting for their moment of fame :o) With more to come in the next few days. So come back soon!!

Michael has been to my studio before but this was Lauren’s first visit. It was great to have them and wonderful to se mom, Michaela, again!

These pictures of 3 week old Reed have been several weeks in coming! They were posted, or so I thought. I could see them but his mom Danielle mentioned she was waiting for them. Seems they were stuck in limbo. Websites never work like you want them – especially when you’re trying to look after them yourself.

But isn’t he little? And cute as a button. What is it about newborns these days that makes them so alert and awake for long periods of time. Reed thought it was fun to stretch out, chew on his fingers and have a drink of milk. We had to be creative to keep him in a bundled up pose!

When Melissa and Matthew came to the studio with 2 year old Marcus in tow they were concerned that a bug bite from the evening before may spoil their plans for family pictures! And their concerns were justified. As I looked carefully into the sweet face of this little boy I had my doubts I could repair the damage to the red area around his eye. I told them I could definitely take out the bite itself but the redness reaching right into the edges of his eye would be a problem. They decided they would go ahead even though I would have happily booked another session.

I’m glad they did. Stubbornness took over and I spent some time figuring out how to solve the problem. I think I succeeded and I’m always happy to learn a new skill! It would have been a shame to waste these fantastic smiles brought out by my assistant dressed in a boa and bunny ears. Thanks Christian for your help!!

The first photo is without the eye repair. The three following are with some extensive work done. Hopefully Melissa and Matthew will forgive the time it took to get these posted.

I recently discovered a great site to create your own Wedding Website for FREE! This is a fantastic way to keep wedding guests informed of all the details of your very special day. It’s easy to use and a lot more professional looking than using a facebook group. Thought I’d share…

Wedding Website

The stars didn’t align for a smooth road toward a maternity session for Andrea! After several scheduling attempts for her to travel to my studio we decided we had better come up with plan B. The day of her due date I gathered my gear and headed for her house in New Maryland. (Because I do that you know!). Although a living room filled with BIG toys for her 3 year old Hayden may not have been perfect – it worked. Thankfully Andrea and Nelson have the most wonderful sofa to work with.

I guess there was no panic to get them done as April 27th stretched it’s way to May 8th. This newest little addition to the family was waiting for Mother’s Day to arrive. What a perfect gift! Can’t wait to meet him and find out his name.

Here are a few shots from the session. Hayden was the perfect big brother and helped us creat some fun maternity photos.
