This must be baby season! And I’m loving it!! This is my third newborn in the past week or so and there are several more on the way. You may think newborns are easy to photograph since they don’t move around… you would be incorrect. This little guy didn’t want his picture taken. He wanted milk. He doesn’t like to lay on his belly. And he wanted to sleep – and sleep some more. He was jostled, tickled, had his forehead blown upon to no avail. Newborns do what they want regardless of how excited parents are to have wonderful pictures of their precious little bundle. And Trysten is a precious little bundle :o) Congratulations Julie and Rob. I look forward to watching him grow up.

Thanks for the hats mom!!!

… I can usually tell what photograph REALLY defines the person or people in it. (Did you know I have a university degree with a major in psychology?). People fascinate me. Good or bad. And I think I read behaviour pretty well. It helps in my photography business. I often hear – “you captured who we are” – and it’s not by accident. I see it in an instant of interaction. Like these ones below. Dionne and Danielle are expecting a little boy in several weeks. He will be a very lucky boy to be on the receiving end of the tenderness that is obvious between his parents!

But of course a maternity session wouldn’t be without some standard belly bump photos!

I think next year I may do a couples promotion for Valentines’ Day. Kerri and Michael came to the studio with their two little boys who stayed just long enough for a couple of quick family shots. They then went off to spend some time with their aunt who graciously tagged along to allow her sister and brother-in-law the opportunity to spend some alone time to celebrate the upcoming birth of a little girl. For over an hour we relaxed, chatted, and took some wonderful maternity portraits that will be cherished for many years to come. They even dressed for the occasion! It seems to me this would make a fantastic celebration of the day. Check out other photos from this maternity session on facebook.

I envisioned those dreamy look maternity photos when planning for a session with Julie and Rob on Wednesday. Little did I know that serious is a little bit impossible with these two. How fun! This lovely couple couldn’t stop smiling. The excitement over the upcoming birth of their little boy Trysten in March is so obvious. As is their obvious joy with each other. The laughter was contagious. It was a fantastic afternoon and I look forward to following them through the next year of their lives!

Check out their photos on facebook as well as the few from the session below:

Even though Gallery Arseneau(.ca) isĀ in the midst of some change it would be a shame to not post about another little “work in progress”. Lindsay and Mike won’t care if the site is a little chaotic. After all, in 6 short weeks (give or take) life for them will change forever when they welcome a little boy into a family who are not so patiently waiting. It is always a pleasure for me to be a small part of such a special event. Congratulations Carter family! Enjoy every minute.
