I recently discovered a great site to create your own Wedding Website for FREE! This is a fantastic way to keep wedding guests informed of all the details of your very special day. It’s easy to use and a lot more professional looking than using a facebook group. Thought I’d share…

Wedding Website

With the 2010 wedding season nearly upon us, the majority of wedding photography inquiries are for 2011. I had one bride comment that there aren’t many wedding photographs posted on my website. She’s right! Last season my wedding portfolio could be found on another site (now changed to this one hosted on my own domain) and a wedding blog site. Since the summer I have created this site to showcase all of my photography work. However, waiting for this summer’s weddings to expand my portfolio may not be the best choice given the amount of interest for 2011. So here are just a few of the weddings from last spring and summer. Stay tuned for more to follow.

As I looked through my work I realized that orange was the color of the season!!! I wonder what this year’s color will be?

As a professional portrait photographer it is almost a necessity to see something in a person’s features that others may not see – maybe even the subject themselves. Often what may seem almost ordinary in everyday life becomes extraordinary in print. It’s probably why I love America’s Next Top Model. In life I am constantly looking at the people around me in a different way. There are a few I think “I wish I could get them in front of a camera!”. This weekend my thoughts were answered. For several years I have looked at Laura and wondered if she knew how beautiful she was. Maybe it’s a combination of looks and the easy going demeanor she has with her hands full of spunky children. You decide:

This was a busy weekend! It must be the hint of spring in the air. Or maybe it’s that basketball season has ended and I’m home on a weekend :o) Whatever the reason it’s great to see some nice fresh, bright colors coming into the studio. And even nicer to see beautiful, little Claire – a full year since I’ve seen her last. What a difference a year makes! Take a look at these eyes!! And the wonderful pouty lips. She’s a stunning one year old. I can’t wait to see what next year brings…

There was only one thing that was not difficult about this Saturday morning engagement session near the walking bridge on the Fredericton north side – the couple! Katlyn and Chris were awesome. They were full of smiles and easy to talk to. Unfortunately it was very windy which did terrible things to long hair. And although it was 2 degrees in the sun, it felt more like minus 20 in the wind. Heavy dark clouds rolled quickly through the February skies making it extremely challenging to keep up with the fast changing lighting conditions. I certainly needed to be on my toes! With some patience, a little luck, and some skill, we managed to capture some really great shots.

Is there a better gift for Valentines’ Day than saying “I Do”? I can’t imagine that promising to love one another forever in a church, in front of God, family and friends can be outdone. The Valentines’ eve ceremony between Emma and Gary was lovely! A beautiful candlelight ceremony with only the very closest of family and friends, followed by an equally intimate dinner, are memories that will be relived for a lifetime. I am happy they chose me to capture their wedding portraits. I hope you enjoy them forever as well.

I think next year I may do a couples promotion for Valentines’ Day. Kerri and Michael came to the studio with their two little boys who stayed just long enough for a couple of quick family shots. They then went off to spend some time with their aunt who graciously tagged along to allow her sister and brother-in-law the opportunity to spend some alone time to celebrate the upcoming birth of a little girl. For over an hour we relaxed, chatted, and took some wonderful maternity portraits that will be cherished for many years to come. They even dressed for the occasion! It seems to me this would make a fantastic celebration of the day. Check out other photos from this maternity session on facebook.

It’s been a great year! Many of the goals set for 2009 were achieved or broken. I spent the year working with my fabulous new Nikon D90! And added the SB900 to my bag in the spring.I have the SB800 as well. My Photoshop skills greatly improved and many marketing opportunities opened up. My biggest hope was to have a blog hosted on my own domain and in November it finally came to be. You may wonder why it is important to my business but go ahead… search fredericton wedding photography or photographer and you will find me hovering at page 1 or 2 on google!! This was a move from the 7th page at best. (When was the last time you kept looking through 7 pages for what you wanted?)

There is still much to be done. GalleryArseneau.ca still needs some tweaking. Marketing is an ongoing battle and skills can always be improved. For 2010 I will work on my branding which basically means having a logo, watermark, website, business cards, and packaging that are uniform and reflect your style. It’s what makes you recognizable and helps you stand out in the crowd. Keep coming back to see how it progresses. For now have a look at a few of the engagement session photos from 2009 and stay tuned for other last year photos to come online. Don’t forget to look for the latest news with portraits and personal stuff!

Well… they’re not both technically my kids… just the one in the blue swim trunks. But they are both crazy! Luc and Bethany have been friends for many years and I have numerous photos of the two of them together having great fun. This particular moment was captured just before Christmas as they climbed in and out of our hot tub to make snow angels. Beth’s mom and I joke that we’ll have some very good material for a graduation slideshow. Well… we’re not technically joking!
